Daniel Manuel Rodriguez, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away on Feb. 4, 2021, from complications of COVID-19.

He was born in Wichita, Kan., and was raised in Jefferson Parish. Big Dan, as he was known, served in the U.S. Navy from 1972-1976. He married his loving wife, Mary Keaton Rodriguez, on Jan. 27, 1978. Big Dan was employed by Delchamps Distributing for many years. He later worked and retired from Schlumberger in Hammond.

Danny was preceded in the death by his parents, Daniel and Shirley Rodriguez of New Orleans; and his father and mother-in-law, Harold Leroy and Emma Katherine Keaton.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Keaton Rodriguez; his brothers, Louis, Edward, and Jerome Rodriguez; his sisters, Karen Weaver and Lisa Visser; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his loving dog companions, Lady, Gumbo, and Filé.

Services will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home and Crematory in Bogalusa on Saturday, Feb. 13. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until the memorial service begins at 2 p.m. The Rev. Eric Seal will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Washington Humane Society, Magnolia Chapter.
