As of Tuesday afternoon, nine Washington Parish pharmacies or parish health units had received COVID-19 vaccinations, according to the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH).

Citizens who are 70 years of age or older should call one of these pharmacies to be added to a waiting list for appointments. Do not go to any pharmacy without a previous appointment.

The pharmacies and other locations are:

• Nielsen’s Pharmacy — 1619 S. Columbia St., Bogalusa (phone number is 985-732-7481).
• Walmart Pharmacy — 401 Ontario Ave., Bogalusa (985-732-7677).
• C&F Pharmacy — 424 Austin St., Bogalusa (985-732-2501).
• Our Lady of the Angels Hospital, 433 Plaza St., Bogalusa (online appointments only at www.fmolhs.org/coronavirus/in-it-to-end-it-covid-19-vaccine).
• Rocky’s Med Shoppe, 133 Cumberland St., Bogalusa (985-205-4700).
• Washington Parish Health Unit, 626 Carolina Ave., Bogalusa (985-732-6615).
• Riverside Medical Center, 711 Riverside Drive, Franklinton (985-795-4294).
• Williams Family Pharmacy, 1058 Tanglewood Drive, Franklinton (985-839-7200).
• Rawls Pharmacy, 36009 Highway 38, Mt. Hermon (985-877-4700).
  These vaccines are currently available to citizens in Phase 1B, Tier 1. This group includes the following: persons ages 70 years or older; outpatient clinic providers and clinic staff; urgent care clinic providers and staff; community care clinic providers and staff; behavioral health providers and staff; dialysis providers and patients; home health service providers and recipients; dental providers and staff; and students, resident, faculty and staff of allied health schools (if not already receiving vaccine or in a plan to receive from their respective schools).

Patients must contact a participating location and make an appointment at the location. Patients who arrive without an appointment will not be vaccinated. Vaccinations are by appointment only.

Do not arrive at a location without an appointment. LDH officials cannot make appointments for residents; only participating locations can. Second doses are given at the same location a person receives their first dose and the appointment for the second dose will be made during the appointment for the first dose.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the LDH reported that 1,956 health-care providers and other entities (such as nursing homes) had received vaccines statewide, and 487,705 doses of vaccine had been administered.

As more vaccines become available in the state, more individuals and groups — such as citizens younger than 70 who are not in health-related professions — will be offered them.
