Dennis Wayne “Bubba” Gill, 55, a resident of Bogalusa, died Saturday night, Jan. 23, 2021, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital. He was a heavy equipment operator for Kostmayer Construction for nearly 30 years. Dennis was affectionately known as “Bubba” to his co-workers and those close to him. He loved fishing in our local rivers and creeks or any pond he could cast a line in. Dennis was an outdoorsman that loved to ride his Yamaha motorcycle and work on his trucks. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Debbie Dunaway Gill; sons and a daughter-in-law, Justin Dunaway, and Jason and Jenn Dunaway; grandchildren, Xander Dunaway, Lucas Dunaway, Mason Dunaway, Bentley Dunaway, Trin Dunaway, Dean Dunaway, Paige Williams, Sophia Williams and Karah Williams; aunts and uncles, Rita and Ronald Mizell, and Geraldine Penton; nieces, Felicia Forrest and Becky Thomas; nephews, Brad Forrest and Ben Thomas II; great-nieces and great-nephews, Eden Thomas, Bryanna Thomas, Erica Thomas, Ben “Tres” Thomas III, Elijah Thomas and Beau Voisin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Wanzie Everett; brother-in-law, Prentiss Forrest; and also numerous cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar Gill and Aline Bedwell Gill; brother, Ricky Wayne Gill; sisters, Linda Young and Denise Forrest; and nephew, Eric Thomas.

Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., and after 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28. A funeral service was held in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, with Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Burial followed in the Spencer Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brad Forrest, Ben Thomas II, Justin Dunaway, Xander Dunaway, Mike Penton and Johnathan Jones. Honorary Pallbearers were Jason Dunaway, Fred Jones, Chris Penton and co-workers Pete Dunn, Josh Bankston, Mack Rigdon and Bruce Busby.
