Jacquelyn ‘Lyn’ Pigott

Jacquelyn “Lyn” Ann Hooker Pigott was born Aug. 23, 1944, in Hartford, Conn., to John Douglas Hooker and Jacqueline Peltier Hooker. The family moved to Naples, Fla., in 1954, Lyn graduated from Naples High School in 1962 and shortly thereafter joined the United States Air Force. There she met and married Robert Pigott. Upon discharge from the military they moved to Bogalusa, which is Robert’s hometown. They built a life here, raising four children. As a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, Lyn served on the Annunciation School Board, the Annunciation Parish Council, and served as Secretary to the Board of Bogalusa Habitat for Humanity under the direction of Rev. Phillip Stagg.

Lyn retired from the Louisiana Department of Corrections, having worked at WCI/RCC for 27 years. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert R. Pigott; daughters, Kathy Pigott, Bobbi Jo (Troy) Breland and Nancy (Wendell) Pigott Cook, of Bogalusa; a son, R. Douglas (Sheila) Pigott of Slidell; five grandchildren, Kayla (Kendall) Wheat Jenkins of Crossroads, Miss., Morgan (Justin) Wheat Blackwell of Bogalusa, Brittany Pigott of Waveland, Miss., Anna Miley of Pearl, Miss. and Amber Guidry. She is survived by 10 great-grandchildren who she dearly loved — Layken, Rilei, Masson, Reese, McKinlea, Erin, Brantley, Addysyn, Ayva, and Skyler. Their hugs and kisses made her world. She is also survived by a cousin, Bonnie Hooker of Manchester, Conn. Lyn leaves behind two of her dearest friends, Joan Williams and Darylene Gillespie. She is also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. She had a love of traveling and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and these family gatherings owned her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Douglas Hooker and Jacqueline Peltier Hooker Crawford; a grandson, Dakota Pace; and sisters Sue Vokes of Nanuet, N.Y., and Carol Hooker of Pass Christian, Miss.

Pallbearers will be Wynn Galloway, Tommy Brumfield, Wendell Cook, Keith Bickham, Kendall Jenkins, Justin Blackwell and Troy Breland. Honorary pallbearers will be Lori Vernon, Barbara Mehrtens, Billie Sue Alford, Vickie Burgess, Karen Hall and Beverly Kelly.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home and Crematory in Bogalusa on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m., with Deacon Ed Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Varnado. Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home and Crematory on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.

Military Honors will be presented by Magic City American Legion Post #24.
