Mary Anthony, a Bogalusa native, died Oct. 30, 2020 surrounded by her family in Denver, Colo. She was preceded in death by her father, John Anthony, and her sister, Virginia Anthony Rodriguez. Mary is survived by her mother, Marie Anthony, her sister, Susan (Philip) Anthony Crawford, her niece, Mary Margaret Crawford, and numerous other relatives and friends.
She graduated valedictorian from the 1965 Bogalusa High School class. She then graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Louisiana State University in 1969. She became a VISTA volunteer and moved to the Denver area where she remained for the rest of her life. She later received a Masters Degree in social welfare from the University of Denver. She worked for Adams County child protection for over 20 years. Her life’s work was devoted to the well-being of children and their families. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were conducted by Reverend LeBaron Taylor at St. Matthews Episcopal Church on Oct. 13, 2020. She was interred at Ponemah Cemetery. Poole Ritchie was in charge of funeral arrangements.
