Bogalusa will travel to the Crescent City to play against Booker T. Washington at Tad Gormley Stadium on Thursday in non-district action.

“Offensively we started out slow and some bad snaps hurt us, however we overcame it and finally started executing in the second half,” Bogalusa coach Adam Brumfield said of his team’s loss at Hannan. “I thought our freshman quarterback Ashton Levi improved from his game last week. He threw for three touchdowns and ran for one. He had one interception, but it was a tipped ball that wasn’t his fault. I thought our wide receivers played well and protection was good. Defensively, I thought we played well in the first half. Second half, I think we wore down and missed some tackles.

“Booker T is the most athletic team we have faced. Coach Reece does a great job. They have several D1 kids and a really good defensive line. The Johnson kid they have is committed to Arizona. I think him and Raheem Roberts will be a good match up and should turn into some good football. Both are next level athletes. We will have to eliminate turnovers and bad snaps offensively. Defensively we have to tackle better and get in better shape. We will have to play four quarters of good football to win.”

Bogalusa begins this week with a 1-2 record after a 49-28 loss to Archbishop Hannan.

The Lumberjacks had a tough start, as Hannan got out to a 28-6 lead, but Bogalusa trimmed the deficit to 28-20.

Booker T. Washington enters this week with a 4-1 record and is among those receiving votes outside of the top 10 in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association poll.

Booker T. Washington won last year’s contest 36-31.

Bogalusa has two regular season games left after this week. Both are in District 8-3A play against Jewel Sumner at home on Nov. 13 and on the road against Loranger on Nov. 20.
