Officials with the Washington Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) said Thursday morning that more than 800 parish residents were still without power.

According to the OHSEP officials, Entergy reported 515 parish customers without power, Washington St. Tammany Electric Cooperative reported 316, and Cleco reported 12.

“As soon as it is safe, crews will or have begun their assessment of damage to equipment and facilities,” OHSEP officials posted on the agency’s Facebook page. “Please be patient with this process and know they are all working hard to restore power. Be safe and watch out for down power lines.

“If you are using a generator, make sure you operate it on a dry surface under an open canopy-like structure that is at least 20 feet away from your home. Do not place inside of any structure, do not place near open doors and/or windows, and do not refuel when hot.”
