Deputies recently arrested a Washington Parish woman wanted on warrants in Mississippi, according to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Haley said that Daisy Dee Ann McCarty, 23, of Star Creek Road in Washington Parish, did not go to court in Franklin County, Miss. The county then issued a felony warrant for her arrest and WPSO Deputy Randall Garcia and Sgt. Michael Thomas reportedly located her on Saturday, hiding in the rear of a vehicle at her residence. She was arrested on the Mississippi warrant and transported to the Washington Parish Jail.

Haley said that McCarty’s legal issues became more complicated when a quantity of methamphetamine was discovered in her jacket pocket. She then was booked into the jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and being a fugitive from Mississippi.

McCarty has one previous stay in the Washington Parish Jail, Haley said. In August of 2017, she was booked on charges of second degree battery, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

“We honor Mississippi warrants and they honor ours,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “The effectiveness of law enforcement is enhanced by the cooperation of various agencies, both in Louisiana and other states. We are always pleased to assist other agencies and always grateful for assistance they provide to us.”
