Mary Louise Freeman Stubbs, 76, a resident of Thomas, died Monday morning, Oct. 19, 2020, at Good Samaritan Living Center, after a lengthy illness. She was an active member of Pine First Baptist Church who loved the Lord and her church family. She loved to help others through the church and was active in the Benevolence ministries and diaper and blanket missions to provide for those in need. Mary Louise was a member of the church’s Happy Hearts group and she always enjoyed visiting or eating out with her friends and going on shopping trips. She loved taking care of her household and cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Garry and Tyra Stubbs; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Rex McCain, Theresa Foster, and Michelle and Kendall Amacker; grandchildren and spouses, Heather Scardina, Misti and Jamie Stewart, Charlie and Oona Foster, Shane Foster, Jessica and Cole Schilling, Justin DiCarlo and Christa, Chris and Jolena Foster, Steve Foster, Savannah and Mastin Myrick, and Libby Amacker; 12 great-grandchildren and an expected great-grandchild; her brother, Vernon Freeman; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Stubbs, Beatrice Evans and Dottie McKenzie; special cousins, Rita Mae Breland and Madelaine Jones; a special friend, Janie Knight; and also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Stubbs; parents, Acie Freeman and Molly Creel Freeman; an infant sister, Eloise Freeman; brothers, Dewitt Freeman, Edward Earl Freeman, Dennis Lloyd Freeman and Dale Freeman; four brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be at Pine First Baptist Church (27043 Louisiana Highway 62 in Franklinton) on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, with the Rev. David Easterling and the Rev. Larry Lassley officiating. Burial will follow in the Carson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Good Samaritan Living Center and Community Care Hospice for all their care and support.

Pallbearers will be Garry Stubbs, Kendall Amacker, Justin DiCarlo, Chris Foster, Vernon Freeman and James Stubbs.
