Bowling Green School is on the road Friday, going against Sylva Bay Academy in week nine of the regular season.

“Sylva Bay has some good athletes,” Bowling Green School coach Riley Boudreaux said. “We’re going to have to find a way to contain them. They play real hard on defense. Week-in and week-out, we’ve got to find a way to scratch out points.”

The Buccaneers are coming off of a 48-32 victory over Silliman Institute.

In that game, Javon Bickham racked up 460 yards of total offense and he scored five total touchdowns.

Bickham ran for 280 yards and four touchdowns and he threw for 180 yards. Bickham also returned a kickoff 80 yards for a score.

“He’s playing real well right now, but you can’t dwell on it. What he did last week doesn’t matter this week. He’s an important player and he’s gotta keep playing well for us,” Boudreaux said.

Kendrell Robertson rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

Kengie Gordon tallied 100 yards receiving.

Nathan Jenkins posted 65 yards receiving.

Defensively, Jacob Dobraska intercepted a pass and made a sack.

Braden Cooper and Jeffrey Slaughter had a sack each.

Boudreaux said the key for this week is tackling.

Bowling Green won last year’s matchup, 34-0.

Sylva Bay is 2-6 this season and comes off of a 35-10 win over Newton County Academy.

After this week, Bowling Green will play its final regular season game on Oct. 23 on the road against Brookhaven Academy.
