Ben’s Ford Christian School scored the game’s first 22 points and Alston Moore had another strong game in a 66-12 victory over Christian Collegiate Academy in a road game held Friday.

The Eagles led 22-0 after the first quarter and 52-12 at halftime.

Ben’s Ford recorded 359 yards of total offense with all of it on the ground. The Eagles did not throw any passes.

Moore led the rushing attack with 186 yards and four touchdowns on just 10 attempts for an average of 18.6 yards per carry. Moore has 934 rushing yards this season.

Daniel Martin also hit triple digits on the ground with 123 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries for a 20.5-yard per attempt average.

Trey Hartzog posted 46 yards on six carries and two touchdowns.

Martin was the leading tackler with 11.5, including eight solos and 1.5 for loss.

John Glover was next with 3.5. Three of them were solos. Glover also forced a fumble, which helped cause one of four turnovers for the defense.

Martin Mizell recovered two fumbles.

Brantley Dyess forced a fumble and recovered one.

Sam Peters forced a fumble.

Jonah Holston intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown.

“We came out and played well,” Ben’s Ford Christian School coach Destin Pittman said. “We ran the ball. I don’t know if we passed it one time. Offensive line blocked great, running backs ran it well. We had three different guys split the carries. Defense showed up and played well all night.”

Ben’s Ford plays its final home game of the season Friday night against Prentiss Christian School.

Prentiss Christian School enters this week with a 2-3 record.

“Prentiss is a really well-coached team,” Pittman said. “They’re tough. They’re going to run the ball right at us. We just have to show up and tackle well and I think we’ll be OK. Offensively, we block well. If our running backs hold on to the football and run it well, we’ll do well.”

Prentiss had a bye last week. They were defeated in their last game, 35-16, by Humphreys Academy on Sept. 18.

Prentiss won last year’s contest, 40-18.

Following this game, Ben’s Ford has two regular season games remaining over the next two weeks. Both are District 2A2 contests on the road against Columbus Christian Academy (1-5, 1-0) and Kemper Academy (0-6, 0-2). Ben’s Ford is 1-0 in district play so far this year.
