The National Weather Service said, in its Monday afternoon forecast of Hurricane Sally, that it is likely Washington Parish will see weaker winds than the NWS previously predicted.

At approximately 1:45 p.m. Monday, the NWS said that Washington Parish will likely experience “below tropical storm force wind” from Sally. This forecast includes 15-25 mph winds, with gusts up to 45 mph. This is a downgrade from Monday morning’s forecast of 30-40 mph winds.

Anticipated rainfall is 1-3 inches. The storm is expected to affect the parish between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning.

The NWS forecast is only an educated guess, and stronger weather is certainly possible. Citizens are urged to stay vigilant and follow local media, including this website, for the most up-to-date information.
