Geraldine Williams Askew, 89, a resident of Franklinton, passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 8, 2020. She was born on May 28, 1931, in Varnado. Jerry, as she was known, enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She read her Bible every day and liked relaxing in her rocking chair. Jerry loved cooking and drinking her delicious sweet tea.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Askew Ard and Robbie Ard; a granddaughter and spouse, Tiffany Ard Graham and William Graham; three great-grandchildren, Ryder Ard, Liam Graham and Owen Graham; a sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Tom Maroney; and also numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Thomas R. Askew; parents, Alton Williams and Edith Owens Williams; a sister, Leola Lezette Crosby; brothers, Alvin Williams and Purvis Williams; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wiley Askew Sr. and Eloise Daigle Askew.

A graveside funeral service was held in the Bethel Fellowship Church Cemetery near Angie at noon on Friday, Sept. 11, with Bro. Shane Vaughn officiating.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Mindy, Leigha and Dee of Community Care Hospice, Florida Parishes Health Services and her sitter Stacy Sumrall for all their care and support.

Pallbearers were Josh Williams, William Graham, Austin Guy, Bronwynn Crosby, Benjamin Boutwell and Tony Williams.
