The Bogalusa City Schools will begin their school year Tuesday, Sept. 8, and this week students will receive Chromebooks to assist with any necessary virtual learning in the 2020-21 academic year.

The BCS has released its plan for distribution of the Chromebooks to the eligible students and their families.

Parents or guardians should arrive during the scheduled time frame according to the first letter of the student’s last name. The scheduled times are:

• Last names A-E, Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
• Last names F-L, Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
• Last names M-R, Thursday, Sept. 3, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
• Last names S-Z, Thursday, Sept. 3, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
• Last names A-Z (alternative distribution date for parents unable to attend during the designated times and dates), Friday, Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

The Chromebooks will be distributed at Bogalusa High School. The entrance for the distribution site is located at the back of the school, and the line to enter the distribution site will begin at the door of the gymnasium (Jr. ROTC) on South Border Drive.

Markers and barricades will be in place to organize the flow of the process and maintain procedures for the distribution of Chromebooks.

Parents or guardians will need multiple documents. They include the Virtual School Student and Family Handbook Agreement Form (student and parent/guardian signatures required), the Technology Acceptable Use Policy (student and parent/guardian signatures required), and the Device Usage Policy (student and parent/guardian signatures required).

COVID-19 guidelines will be followed during the Chromebook distribution. Due to limited space, parents and guardians are asked not to bring additional people to the distribution site.

Temperature checks will be required to enter the distribution site, and all persons entering the site must wear a mask. Follow all instructions from school officials, as well as designated paths and signs for the required guidelines.

If any parent, guardian or child has been exposed to COVID-19, or is currently infected with the COVID-19 virus, do not attend the Chromebook distribution this week. The BCS will work to make alternate arrangements for these individuals.
