Bowling Green School’s 2020 opening football game that was scheduled for Friday night against Cathedral Unit School at Southwest Mississippi Community College has been canceled.

“In speaking with the headmaster, she indicated that there were two players that tested positive (for COVID-19). They were asymptomatic and they will be out the recommended required days until they have negative symptoms. For the safety and well-being of our team and the opposing team, we canceled the football game,” Bowling Green principal Beverly Young said.

Bowling Green’s week two contest scheduled for Aug. 28 is still set to be played. That game is a road contest against Centreville Academy.
