James Edward Kemp passed away at his residence in Bogalusa on Aug. 18, 2020, at the age of 87. He was born on Aug. 31, 1932 in Bogalusa.

He served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mrs. Lou Kemp; his two daughters, Cherie Kemp of Bogalusa, and Tori (Tommy) Stogner of Sandy Hook, Miss.; his three sons, Mike Kemp of Bogalusa, John Kemp of Shreveport, and Wade (Mary) Kemp of Bogalusa; brothers, Doug (Sandy) Kemp and Wayne (Helen) Kemp, both of Bogalusa; sisters, Marie Hunt of Bogalusa, Thelma (J.P.) Jones of Lafayette, Marion Bridges of Monroe, and Lorraine Latino of Bogalusa. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Bertha Kemp.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin for family and close friends at 4 p.m.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, all others wishing to attend are asked to come to the graveside service that will immediately follow at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Keith Sheridan, John Kemp, and the Rev. Dennis Allen will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Stogner, Jack Stogner, Lance Stogner, Dustin Kemp, John Kemp Jr. and Logan Brouillette. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Kemp, Wayne, Kemp and Landyn Jarrell.
