Brenda Ann Turnipseed Schempp, of Bogalusa, peacefully passed on Aug. 8, 2020, at the age of 75. She shared this heavenly day with her eldest granddaughter, Logan Caroline Dicharry, whose birthday was same day.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Elizabeth Sullivan United Methodist Church, located at 510 Ave. B in Bogalusa.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m. at ESM United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James B. Moore officiating. Burial will be at her hometown of Liberty, Miss., where she will be laid to rest at a later date, with her parents Odessa and Myrtis Turnipseed, and sister Bobbie Turnipseed Farris.

Brenda was born in Liberty to Odessa and Myrtis Turnipseed on Oct. 13, 1944, on the day her uncle Galloway Turnipseed returned home from World War II as a prisoner of war. Brenda was married to Karl Phillip Schempp, of Oakdale, for over 25 beautiful years. She worked at American Fabrics Corporation and for Mrs. Dixie Gallaspy, her dear friend, for many years. Brenda was actively involved in the United Methodist Church. She was a beautiful lady and an energetic wife, mother, and grandmother, full of laughter and love. She was known as “Bita” to her grandchildren and to our very dear friends.

Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Phillip Schempp of Oakdale, who worked at Crown Zellerbach Corporation in Bogalusa for many years.

Brenda is survived by her two daughters, Karla Ann Schempp of Bogalusa and Monika Schempp Rogan and son-in-law John Callison Rogan of Montz. She is also survived by her two granddaughters, Logan Caroline Dicharry and Anna Brooke Rogan, and one grandson, Ross McKinney Rogan.

Brenda is also survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Grady Nelson along with Janell and Dale Flanagan, Jenna and Ryan Bivings, Noah Flanagan, Lisa and Louis Munchausen and their daughter Jill Munchausen, Brittany Palmer, Scott and Leisa Jones, and their daughters Bridget, Danielle and Cassie, Karen and Ronnie Jones, and their daughters Jodi and Jennifer Shipley, and David Kelly.

Pallbearers will be John Rogan, Brad Wallace, Ross Rogan, Lance Stockstill, Scott Jones, Robert Terrell, and honorary pallbearer Greg Applewhite.

Memorials may be given to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center of St. Tammany, or Elizabeth Sullivan United Methodist Church of Bogalusa.

The family of Brenda Schempp wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Mary Bird Perkins Center Employees, Dr. Jack Saux, Dr. S. Patel, Dr. McGlaughlin, Dr. Hinkleman and his nurse Denise. A special thanks to the beautiful nurses and employees of St. Tammany Parish Hospital.
