Eddie Johnson Sr., a resident of Bogalusa, was born to the late Rev. Joseph Johnson Sr. and the late Alma Jane Pittman Taylor Johnson. His Spiritual transition was July 23, 2020, at Our Lady of the Angels in Bogalusa.

Deacon Johnson was a member of Tree of Life Baptist Church for over 70 years, currently pastored by Rev. Loranzo Magee.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Celestina; sons, Andrew, Willie J. and Eddie Jr.; four brothers, Ernest Taylor, Rev. W.J., Joseph Jr. and Tom E. Johnson; and four sisters, Viola Cole, Selena Wooley, Kathleen Henry and Hazel Steptoe.

He is survived by five daughters, Geraldine Davis (Jerone), Lee Bilberry, Beverly Magee and Jeanette Johnson, all of Bogalusa, and Barbara Gatdula (Alfredo) of Jackson, Miss.; three sons, the Rev. John W. Sr. (Burnett) of Jonesboro, Ga., Vial Rodney (Claudia) and Frederick, both of Bogalusa; one step-sister, Mary (Rev. M.J. Galloway) of Bogalusa; one brother-in-Law, Laureano Marañon of La Union, Philippines; one sister-in-law, Dalen Marañon of La Union; and a village of (family and friends) grand-, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and an endless number of loving Christian friends.

Drive-thru viewing will be Friday, July 31, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John W. Johnson, pastor, officiating.
