On Wednesday after 5 a.m., troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 41 north of Louisiana Highway 435 in St. Tammany Parish. The crash claimed the life of Jason R. Talley, 37, of Bush.

Trooper Jeremy Price said that the initial investigation led troopers to determine that Talley was southbound on Highway 41 in a Ford F-150 pickup when he drove off the roadway. The pickup then impacted a drainage culvert, which caused it to begin to roll until it impacted a utility pole.

Price said that Talley was properly restrained, but died from injuries sustained during the crash. Impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash, but as part of the ongoing investigation a blood sample was collected for scientific analysis from Talley.

LSP officials noted that this is the third fatal crash Troop L has investigated in the past three days. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists to make good, safe decisions such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, obeying the speed limit, and avoiding all distractions. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained.
