Mavis Sumrall Hall was born in February of 1929 in Bogalusa, and took her flight to heaven on Wednesday morning, June 24, 2020 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. She was 91 years of age.

Daughter of the late Louis and Bessie Mc Neese Sumrall, she was one of 13 children. Mavis was a dedicated member of the Bogalusa American Legion Post 24, Ladies Auxiliary for 28 years. She signed on the executive committee of the Ladies Auxiliary as well as doing many other things for the American Legion. She loved to go to the Legion hall every Thursday night to play bingo, and she also loved to spend time with family and friends and to go camping.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, James D. Hall Sr.; her son, Randall I. Hall; daughter-in-law, Sandy Deeter-Hall; son-in-law, Roy Jenkins; and six sisters and three brothers, Sybil, Eula, Pat, Renee, Renette, Immogene, Joe, Larry, and Billy Burdette.

Those left to cherish the many memories of her are her siblings, Melvin Sumrall, Hollis Sumrall, and Betty Quave; her children, James D. Hall Jr. (Ann), Gregory A. Hall (Martha), and Regina Jenkins; grandchildren, Melissa Nightingale (Greg), Paul Willoughby (Rose), Todd Willoughby, Tina Jenkins (Joe Lewis), Alicia Stang (Jared Long), Amy Miller (Steve), Brandi Bryant (Scott), Jared Hall (Kayla Brown), and Christopher Deeter; her 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Kelly Western and Priscilla Cotton.

She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 3, at 4 p.m. at Talley’s Chapel United Nondenominational Church, located at 26664 Highway 16 in Sun.
