Walter Dale (David) Morgan was born to the late Thadis Lafayette and Beatrice Smothers Morgan on Aug. 5, 1956, in Bogalusa. He departed this life on June 12, 2020, in Bogalusa.

He attended the 8th Ward Elementary School, and Clinton East Feliciana High School in Clinton. David graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1974. He was employed with the Bogalusa City Schools for 32 years and worked with the Maintenance Crew. He was an active member of the Deacons for Defense, volunteered as Little League Baseball Coach, and President of the Local Union for the Bogalusa City Schools.

At an early age David accepted Christ and was baptized at Metropolitan Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: son, David Morgan (Alicia) of Gulfport, Miss.; special friend, Wanda Matthews; step-daughter, Courtney Matthews; two grandsons, Kamden Morgan and David Morgan Jr. of Gulfport; sisters, Hazel Viamill of St. Louis, Mo., Mary Morgan of Conyers, Ga., Carolyn Brown of Stone Mountain, Ga., Joycelyn Johnson of McKinney, Texas, and Catherine Morgan of Clarkston, Ga.; brothers, Joseph Pennington of St. Louis, Thadis Morgan Jr. of Decatur, Ga., John Morgan of Quincy, Mass., and James Morgan of Decatur; one aunt, Pearlie Morgan of San Francisco, Calif.; and a host of loving cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice Smothers-Morgan and Thadis Morgan Sr.; Robert Morgan; Ruth Jefferson; and Dream Morgan.

Drive-thru viewing will be Friday, June 19, at Crain & Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at Crain & Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Raymond Mims will officiate. Interment will be in Bogalusa Cemetery.
