I am writing this on June 6, the 76th anniversary of the Normandy Landing, though with the current stress and strife, no one has given it much attention.

It is usually fondly called “D-Day.”

I remember it, and like to refer to it as “The landing that saved the free world.” And on this day, looking back and trying to look forward, I stand with Drew Brees and honor and give thanks for the Flag that waved above our ships and troops that day, so long ago … Lest we forget.
