Nicholls State University senior offensive lineman P.J. Burkhlater added another award this week.

The 2015 Franklinton High School graduate, who has played in 39 career games, was selected to the Athlon Sports 2020 Preseason All-America Team.

This is Burkhalter’s second preseason honor this year.

He is also a HERO Sports Preseason All-America player.

Last season, Burkhalter was the Southland Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year and he was selected a first-team FCS all-America player by the Associated Press, STATS, Phil Steele and Walter Camp. Burkhalter was an All-Southland Conference and All-Louisiana first-team player. He was also a HERO Sports FCS All-America second-team player.

Nicholls State begins the 2020 season at home on Sept. 5 against Mississippi Valley State.
