Argil Ray Boone, 91, a resident of Angie, passed away at his residence on April 30, 2020. Argil was born in Crossroads, Miss., on Aug. 30, 1928. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army, he then began his working career that spanned many jobs, including Andrews Ford Motor Company in Tylertown, Miss., Lindsley Feiber in Bogalusa, Circle T in Franklinton, and he worked for Crown Zellerbach in the Bag Factory where he was over the printer department for over 29 years. He was a Washington Parish Police Juror and served as a Board Member with Varnado Water Works, a member of the American Legion Post #24, and an active member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years.

He is survived by his son, Jeffery (Sherry) Boone; daughters, Tina (Royce) Keaton and Gina (Hiram) Ingram; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his longtime companion and best friend Tessie Burr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Magdelina Amacker Boone; his wife, Opal Owens Boone; and a daughter, Mona Boone.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 2, at Seal Cemetery in Varnado, at 3 p.m. The Rev. Duane Ball will officiate and military graveside rites will be given by the American Legion Magic City Post #24.
