Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal has suspended the parish-wide curfew, effective Friday, May 1.

Even though the curfew will be lifted, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office offices in both Franklinton and Bogalusa will remain closed to the public until mid-May, in accordance with Gov. John Bel Edwards’ extended stay at home directive. Meanwhile, if anyone has a need to speak with one of the WPSO office personnel, call 985-839-3434, and the operator will direct the call to the appropriate employee.

As always, patrol deputies and detectives continue to patrol the parish and conduct investigations, and jail officers continue to monitor all activities in the jail, Seal said.

“I am so grateful for all those who have cooperated with measures taken during the COVID-19 event,” Seal said. “Although the virus threat has not ended, we are making great progress as a state and nation and I am confident Louisiana will be re-opening for business soon. I caution all of our residents to continue to practice safe hygiene habits, including social distancing, no hand shaking, wearing face coverings as appropriate and limiting the size of group gatherings. Please be assured of my continued prayers for the safety of all.”
