The state of Louisiana had just 218 additional cases of COVID-19 in Tuesday’s daily report, the smallest increase since March 29, according to statistics released by the Louisiana Department of Health.

On Tuesday, the LDH said that there had been 27,286 cases of COVID-19 reported, with 1,758 deaths. On Monday, there had been 27,068 cases and 1,697 deaths reported.

The increase between Monday’s statewide update and Tuesday’s update was an additional 218 cases and an additional 61 deaths. The caseload increase was the smallest in almost a month — there was an increase of 225 cases on March 29, which had been the most recent smallest daily increase until Tuesday’s report.

The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients and patients on ventilators also continued to fall.

On Tuesday at noon, the LDH reported that the state had 1,666 patients in hospitals, and 244 of those patients required ventilators. On Monday, the state had reported 1,683 hospitalized patients, and 262 ventilators in use.

Washington Parish had reported 256 cases and 18 deaths, according to the Tuesday update. On Monday, the parish had reported 253 cases and 18 deaths.

There had been 1,184 cases in St. Tammany Parish, with 104 deaths, and 540 cases in Tangipahoa Parish, with 21 deaths.

There had been 1,273 COVID-19 tests reported from Washington Parish, as of Tuesday’s update.

The state has also begun reporting the number of “presumed recovered” cases. Its first update was on April 22, when it reported 14,927 such cases. Tuesday’s report listed 17,303 presumed reported cases as of April 26 (Sunday).
