The state of Louisiana has seen more than 25,000 cases of COVID-19, according to statistics released Wednesday by the Louisiana Department of Health.

On Wednesday, the LDH said that there had been 25,258 cases of COVID-19 reported, with 1,473 deaths. On Tuesday, there had been 24,854 cases and 1,405 deaths reported.

The increase between Tuesday’s statewide update and Wednesday’s update was an additional 404 cases and an additional 68 deaths.

Washington Parish had reported 214 cases and 13 deaths, according to the Wednesday update. On Tuesday, the parish had reported 206 cases and 13 deaths.

There had been 1,079 cases in St. Tammany Parish, with 81 deaths, and 494 cases in Tangipahoa Parish, with 18 deaths.

There was another reported decrease in both the number of hospitalized patients, as well as the number of those patients on ventilators.

On Wednesday at noon, the LDH reported that the state had 1,747 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, and 287 of those patients required ventilators. On Tuesday, the state had reported 1,798 hospitalized patients, and 297 ventilators in use.

The LDH said at noon Wednesday that there had been 6,593 tests completed by the state laboratory, and another 135,079 tests reported to the state by commercial labs — a total of 141,672 tests. There had been 150,837 tests reported in Tuesday’s update. The difference between the two days’ reports was due to an ongoing review by LDH into its testing statistics.

There had been 626 tests reported from Washington Parish, as of Wednesday’s update.
