The state of Louisiana has reported more than 1,000 deaths due to COVID-19, according to statistics released Tuesday by the Louisiana Department of Health.

The LDH said at noon Tuesday that there had been 21,518 reported cases of COVID-19, and 1,013 reported deaths. On Monday at noon, there had been 21,016 cases and 884 deaths.

The increase between Monday’s statewide update and Tuesday’s update was an additional 502 cases and an additional 129 deaths.

Washington Parish had reported 162 cases and nine deaths, according to the Tuesday update. On Monday, the parish had reported 156 cases and eight deaths.

There had been 898 cases in St. Tammany Parish, with 55 deaths, and 391 cases in Tangipahoa Parish, with 11 deaths.

The LDH said at noon Tuesday that there had been 5,681 tests completed by the state laboratory, and another 112,741 tests reported to the state by commercial labs — a total of 118,422 tests. There had been 108,091 tests reported in Monday’s update.

The state also reported that there were 1,977 COVID-19 patients in state hospitals, with 436 of those patients on ventilators. Monday’s report listed 2,134 patients and 461 ventilators in use.

There had been 459 tests reported from Washington Parish, as of Tuesday’s update.
