Former Bogalusa resident, Rev. Lloyd E. “Digger” Camp, passed away peacefully at his home in Denham Springs on Palm Sunday, April 5, 2020. He was 67 years old.

Lloyd was born on Feb. 4, 1953, in Bogalusa, to Lloyd and Myrl Lavinghouse Camp. He was the oldest of four children.

Lloyd was a member of the Bogalusa High School Class of 1971. Upon graduation he attended both Nicholls State University and Southeastern Louisiana University.

He began a career with the telephone company, retiring from AT&T after 30 years of service. During his years there he would participate in the annual Christmas celebration at Nellie Byers Training Center and dressing as Santa Claus for the clients. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent a lot of time on the Bogue Chitto and Pearl Rivers.

During the course of his life, Lloyd became a faithful follower of Christ and became an Ordained Baptist minister. He led many to Christ and actively expressed his love of the Lord to anyone who would listen.

Lloyd is survived by his three children, Terri Camp (Clayton) Hines of Denham Springs, Emily E. Camp of Denham Springs, and Cory L. Camp of Mandeville; and one grandson, Clayton Alexander “Alex” Hines of Denham Springs. Survivors also include his sister, Nancy Camp (Mike) McBeth of Pine, and his brother, Daniel “Danny” (Debbie) Camp of Baton Rouge. He had a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Myrl Lavinghouse Camp; and a sister, Alisa Camp Kimball.

No service is scheduled at his time, due to limitations on public gatherings.
