Allen Preston Alsobrooks, 80, a resident of Pine, died Tuesday afternoon, March 31, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his beloved family.

He was a welder for Hunt’s Trucking and Ingalls Shipyards for many years. Preston was ordained into the ministry of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Faith. Preston served his Lord for over 40 years both in local churches and others in South Louisiana. He also was an evangelist that preached revival services out of state and he loved to visit nursing homes and jails to share the Gospel to anyone that he could. Preston enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He liked to plant a garden each season and he had special place in his heart for his pet dog “Baby Boy.” Preston was always a loving husband, father and grandfather that cherished the time spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Madeline Tereze Alsobrooks; children and spouses, Ray Alsobrooks, Theresa and Dale Magee, Charlotte and Nelson Wiggins, Lamar and Reese Alsobrooks, Kay and Bill Hano, and Chad and Katie Alsobrooks; grandchildren and spouses, Jolena and Chris Foster, Joyce and Keith Alsobrooks, Robert and Bridget Alsobrooks, Casey and Randy Magee, Hannah and Trey McNeal, Brandon and Lindsey Kinnamon, Derrick and Kristen Kinnamon, Kirk and Heather Wiggins, Madeline and Chris Blanchard, Victoria and Colby Ferrell, Will Alsobrooks, Jesse Alsobrooks, Dakota Alsobrooks, TJ and Kayla Lozier, Donny and Jennifer Lozier, Paul and Keely Lozier, Shawn Hano, Destini and Brody Holloway, Katelyn Cochran, Randall Alsobrooks, and Riley Alsobrooks; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lois Singletary, and Barbara and Larry Flynn; and also numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by a son, Brent Alsobrooks; granddaughter, Amanda Alsobrooks; daughter-in-law, Brenda Alsobrooks; parents, John Jeff Alsobrooks and Mamie Provost Alsobrooks; siblings, Roy Alsobrooks, John Jeff “Jiggs” Alsobrooks Jr., Mary Singletary, Martha Peterson, Iris McClamey, Bill Jordan and Jug Jordan; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Esco and Lela Carnegie.

The family wishes to recognize the loving care and support that his daughters-in-law Reese and Katie were able to provide during these last months. It was truly a blessing to Preston and the entire family.

A graveside funeral service was held at the Alsobrooks Family Cemetery near his home at 1 p.m. Friday, April 3, with Eld. Lavon Taylor officiating. Pallbearers were Donny Lozier, Paul Lozier, Brody Holloway, Brandon Kinnamon, Derrick Kinnamon and Jon Carnegie.
