The state of Louisiana has slightly surpassed 4,000 cases of COVID-19, according to statistics released Monday by the Louisiana Department of Health.

The LDH reported at noon Monday that there had been 4,025 cases reported, and 185 deaths. On Sunday, there had been 3,540 cases and 151 deaths.

As of Monday, there had been 59 parishes that had reported at least one case of COVID-19, out of 64 parishes in the state. There had been 22 reported cases in Washington Parish, with one death — the state had reported 12 cases in its Sunday update.

There had been 186 cases in St. Tammany Parish, with four deaths, and 18 cases in Tangipahoa Parish, with no deaths.

The LDH said at noon Monday that there had been 3,180 tests completed by the state laboratory, and another 30,853 tests reported to the state by commercial labs. That is a total of 34,033 tests — there had been 27,871 tests reported in Sunday’s update.

Out of the total of 34,033 tests reported Monday, 11.8 percent were positive for COVID-19. Out of the total of 4,025 cases, 185 had led to the patient’s death — a rate of 4.6 percent.

The state also reported that there were 1,158 COVID-19 patients in state hospitals, with 385 of those patients on ventilators.
