The following is a message to our Citizens, in response to Gov. Edwards’ Proclamation of March 22. The proclamation can be found and read at gov.louisiana.gov.

In addition to compliance with the proclamation, as well as common sense safety and health precautions, the following procedures are in place until April 12, and will be adjusted or extended if need be.

Bogalusa Police Officers will continue to patrol our city, answer emergency calls, and investigate criminal activity. Persons who engage in criminal activity will be dealt with in accordance with Louisiana law, to include any violations of the proclamation issued by Gov. Edwards.

If you wish to file a complaint in reference to a crime that has already occurred, or other criminal activity, call 985-732-3611 and speak with the dispatcher. A supervisor will determine if a response is necessary, or if your complaint can be handled over the phone. If the complaint can be handled via phone, an officer will call you back and take your complaint. Walk-in complaints are not accepted at this time. If you have an emergency, call 911 for immediate response.

Bogalusa Police Department offices will be closed to the public at least until April 12. If you need to speak to an employee, you may call 985-732-3611 during regular business hours and your call will be directed.

If you need a copy of an accident report, you can go to www.policereports.us. For incident reports or questions about a report, call 985-732-6208.

The Bogalusa City Jail will continue to operate for city arrests. Inmate transports have been curtailed except in emergency situations, or situations deemed necessary by the Warden. Any questions concerning misdemeanor bonds should be directed to the jail at 985-732-6296. Inmate visitation has been canceled until further notice.

All persons entering the jail will undergo screening in the form of a questionnaire and temperature check before admission to the jail. Attorney visitation is discouraged except in emergency situations. Any attorney visits will require the same screening, and will take place through security glass on a non-recorded line.

It is the mission of the Bogalusa Police Department to continue to serve our citizens in a courteous and professional manner. We ask for your patience and cooperation in these trying times. We encourage or citizens to stay tuned to local media outlets for updates, stay informed, and stay safe. May God bless you and your families, and our officers and employees.
