Louisiana has seen more than 2,000 reported cases of COVID-19, according to statistics released Thursday by the Louisiana Department of Health.

The LDH reported at noon Thursday that there had been 2,305 cases reported, and 83 deaths. On Wednesday, there had been 1,795 cases and 65 deaths.

As of Thursday, there had been 53 parishes that had reported at least one case of COVID-19, out of 64 parishes in the state. There had been six reported cases in Washington Parish, with one death — the state had reported four cases in its Wednesday update.

There had been 89 cases in St. Tammany Parish, with one death, and seven cases in Tangipahoa Parish, with no deaths.

The LDH said at noon Thursday that there had been 2,254 tests completed by the state laboratory, and another 15,775 tests reported to the state by commercial labs. That is a total of 18,029 tests — there had been 11,451 tests reported in Wednesday’s update.

Out of the total of 18,029 tests reported Thursday, 12.8 percent were positive for COVID-19. Out of the total of 2,305 cases, 83 had led to the patient’s death — a rate of 3.6 percent.
