Bogalusa’s Prayja Bickham was victorious in the javelin at the Cowgirl Relays that took place on March 12 at Jewel Sumner.

Bickham threw the javelin 97 feet 4 inches.

Teammate Mary Ladner was also a top-six finisher, as she came in sixth place for the event with a throw of 69-3.

The Lady Jacks had three more second-place finishes in events.

Khrystian Scott posted a pair of runner-up results, while Treasure Haynes had one.

Scott took second in the long jump and high jump.

She long jumped 15-6 and high jumped 4-4. Haynes was third in the high jump at 4-2. Loranger’s Amiracle Collins won the long jump at 16-2.75 and Fontainebleau’s Julianne Heath was the high jump winner, clearing the bar at 4-10.

Haynes finished second in the 800 meters, after crossing the finish line in 2 minutes, 48 seconds. Teammate Ta’Miya Crumedy was third at 2:51 and Franklinton’s Yvone Tran took sixth in 3:05. Fontainebleau’s Olivia Wehrman won the 800 in 2:43.

Schools from Washington Parish had four more third-place finishers. They included Bogalusa’s Keandrus Mingo, the Lady Jacks’ 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams and Varnado’s Jalisa Jackson.

Mingo was third in the shot put, with a distance of 25-9. Fontainebleau’s Katy Hollingsworth won at 28-6.

Jackson was third in the triple jump at 29-1. Loranger’s Aja Bell won at 31-3.5.

Bogalusa’s 4×100 relay team ran in 53.29 and the 4×200 group finished in 1:57. Both teams featured Scott, Bickham, Ladner and Kashawn Brown.

Franklinton was fourth in the 4×100 and 4×200, with times of 56.53 and 1:59, respectively. The 4×100 team consisted of Trinity Bryant, Emma Knight, Derranajuh Warren and Kassidy Nielson. The Lady Demons’ 4×200 team included Alexis Mason, Knight, Warren and Nielson.

Varnado’s 4×100 team was fifth with a time of 56.89. The group featured Debriana Weary, ShauTiara Nichols, Jamonica Dillon and Jackson.

Kentwood won both races. They ran the 4×100 in 51.82 and 4×200 at 1:50.

Franklinton had one more fourth-place finish in Nielson.

Nielson was fourth in the 200 after clocking a 28.84. Bogalusa’s Tenisha Miller was sixth at 29.75. Loranger’s Tori Burton won the race, with a time of 27.13.

Franklinton’s Paulina Martinez was fifth in the 1,600, with a time of 6:57. Jewel Sumner’s Madison Parfait won the race, with a time of 6:35.

Several more locals came in sixth place in their events.

Crumedy was sixth in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, teammate Haynes came in sixth for the 400, Nielson was sixth for the 100 and Varnado’s Asia Magee took sixth during the discus.

Crumedy ran the 100 hurdles in 20.41 and recorded a time of 1:01 in the 300 hurdles. Fontainebleau’s Whitney Blocker won both hurdle events, clocking an 18.23 in the 100 and 50.10 for the 300.

Haynes was sixth in the 400, with a time of 1:11. Jewel Sumner’s Jonee Sims won the event in 1:04.

Nielson was sixth in the 100, after posting a 13.86. Sims was the winner in 13.15.

Magee finished sixth in the discus, with a throw of 57-9. Fontainebleau’s Jordan Picone topped the event at 81-7.

Fontainebleau won the team competition with 148 points, in a close meet.

Loranger just five points behind at 143 for second, as seven teams posted points.

Kentwood was third with 73 points, followed by Bogalusa with 69 points, Jewel Sumner with 65, Franklinton with 16 and Varnado with 10.
