Bogalusa’s Clyedterrious Thompson captured four events and three other locals won an event each in the Cowgirl Relays boys meet that took place March 12 at Jewel Sumner.

Thompson was victorious in the long jump, 100 meters, 200 and 400.

Thompson long jumped 22 feet, 3.5 inches. In the races, he ran the 100 in 11.28 seconds, the 200 at 22.65 and he clocked in at 49.58 in the 400.

Several top-six finishers in the long jump were athletes from Washington Parish.

Bogalusa’s Josh Taylor was runner up at 20-6.75, Franklinton’s Caleb Brown took fourth at 19-2 and Varnado’s Benny Jarvis was sixth with a distance of 18-3.

Varnado’s Zamaryion Washington was runner-up in 11.60 and Franklinton’s Bryan Williams was third in the 100, after finishing at 11.62.

Moving to the locals in the top six in the 200, Washington took second at 23.83 and Bogalusa’s Shadwick Gamble ran a 23.84 for third.

Franklinton’s Spencer Lambert bested the discus, Blaine Bulloch topped the javelin and Varnado’s Jarvis James was the winner in the 800.

Lambert threw the discus a distance of 125 feet, 9 inches. Bogalusa’s Kalik Foster was second with a throw of 99-6.

Bulloch posted a javelin throw of 153-7.

Teammate Caleb Brown was second in javelin, after a distance of 146-6.

James took home the 800’s top spot in 2 minutes, 17 seconds.

Franklinton’s Kade Lavigne was sixth at 2:32.

Two local individuals and two relay teams were second, including Bogalusa’s Myical Burrell and Franklinton’s Lambert, along with Bogalusa’s 4×200 relay team.

Burrell took runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles with a 15.65.

Teammate Tyron Johnson was fourth after crossing the finish line in 17.42 and Franklinton’s Kendarius Mark was fifth in 17.92.

Jewel Sumner’s Dominic Haney won the race, with a time of 15.64.

Lambert was second in the shot put, after throwing 38 feet, 6 inches.

Jewel Sumner’s Jakeim Robbins was victorious at 38-9.

Bogalusa’s second-place relay teams were the 4×100 and 4×200.

The 4×100 team finished in 44.83 and the 4×200 squad tallied a 1:33.

Both teams featured Gamble, Ladarious Spikes, Taylor and Burrell.

Franklinton was third in the 4×100 and fifth in the 4×200, with times of 46.51 and 1:38, respectively.

The Demons’ 4×100 team included Williams, Stacy Ard, Cameron Sims and Corinthious Dickerson. The 4×200 squad consisted of Sims, Christian Burkhalter, Ard and Dickerson.

Varnado was fifth and sixth in the 4×100 and 4×200, with times of 46.71 and 1:40.

The Wildcats’ 4×100 group was Washington, Malik Patterson, Trevin Haynes and Jarvis. The 4×200 team was Washington, Patterson, Devonte Magee and Tryan Holmes.

Jewel Sumner won both races, the 4×100 in 44.70 and 4×200 at 1:32.

Franklinton teammates Lavigne and Mark, along with Bogalusa’s Gamble, were third in their events.

Lavigne was third in the 1,600, with a time of 5:26. Jewel Sumner’s Andres Moreno was the winner at 5:18.

Mark took third in the 300 hurdles, after crossing the finish line in 45.25.

Bogalusa teammates Burrell and Johnson were fourth and sixth with times of 46.48 and 48.21, respectively.

Fontainebleau’s Seth Marrero won in 43.23.

Gamble triple jumped 41-1 for third.

Jewel Sumner’s Johnny Sims won at 42-3.

Bogalusa’s 4×400 relay team finished fourth, with a time of 4:15. The team featured Haikem Thompson, Johnson, Kendall Jackson and Spikes.

Fontainebleu won in 3:49.

Johnson was fifth in the high jump at 5-2 after tying with Loranger’s D’Ante McGee. The tiebreaker is fewest misses, so McGee came in fourth and Johnson was fifth.

Franklinton’s Glenn Mark was sixth at 5-0, with he and Loranger’s Zaire Landrews finished tied for sixth after the tiebreaker. Jewel Sumner’s Deshon Coleman won at 5-8 in the tiebreaker after he and Sims tied for the top spot.

Bogalusa tied Fontainebleau for second place in the team competition, with 109 points.

Jewel Sumner won the meet with 160, as six teams posted points.

Loranger tallied 78.5 for fourth, followed by Franklinton’s 71.5 and Varnado’s 31.
