By Monday afternoon, the number of COVID-19 cases in the state exceeded 1,000, according to statistics released by the Louisiana Dept. of Health.

The LDH said at noon Monday that Louisiana had seen 1,172 cases of COVID-19, with a total of 34 deaths. A Washington Parish resident was among one of the deaths reported.

The LDH said there had been 1,634 tests completed by the state laboratory, and another 4,314 tests reported to the state by commercial labs.

As of Monday, there had been 41 parishes that had reported at least one case of COVID-19, out of 64 parishes in the state. There had been two reported cases in Washington Parish, with one death.

There had been 47 cases in St. Tammany Parish, with no deaths, and three cases in Tangipahoa Parish, with no deaths.
