Dr. Ralph Abraham, our congressman since 2014, recently announced that he will not be seeking another term in the United States House of Representatives. He will be missed.

Congressman Abraham has been a true friend to Washington Parish since becoming our representative in Congress. Through his actions, he has shown that he loves and cares for the citizens he represents, and he has represented us well. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, and a veteran himself, he has always advocated a strong military. A skilled fixed-wing and helicopter pilot, Dr. Abraham flies reconnaissance missions for the Coast Guard Auxiliary and is a mission pilot for the Air Force’s Civil Air Patrol Green Flag Program.

Through his service on the Agriculture Committee, he has used his personal experience as a farmer to support the hard-working farmers of Louisiana. He has spent a lifetime working on his farm and understands firsthand the rigors of farming.

Congressman, country doctor, veterinarian, farmer, friend — we are blessed to have had this talented and caring man represent us in Washington, D.C. Dr. Abraham, I salute you and thank you for your service to our district, our state and our nation.
