Robert “Rob” Lawrence Hicks was born on Nov. 15, 1948, in Bogalusa to Valeira “Jack” Hicks and the late Robert “Bob” Hicks. Rob departed this life peacefully at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital on Feb. 11, 2020.

At an early age, Rob became a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He graduated from Central Memorial High School in 1966. After graduation, he attended Grambling State University and later joined the U.S. Navy. Rob was employed at Gaylord Container Corporation for 15 years, until retirement. On June 23, 1986, Rob was united in marriage with Marilyn Carson.

Rob leaves to cherish his life: his wife of 33 years, Marilyn Hicks; eight children, Kiley Kilbourne of Bogalusa, Keela (Eugene) Burdis and Keeda Hicks of Prairieville, Diamond Hicks of Seattle, Wash., Rodrick (Keisha) Alexander of Harvey, Roderick (Daphine) Robinson of Gulfport, Miss., Tina Robinson of Bogalusa, and Madeline Martin of Grand Prairie, Texas; three brothers, Charles Hicks of Washington, D.C., Gregory (Gloria) Hicks and Darryl (Sharon) Robertson of Baton Rouge; one sister, Barbara (Matthew) Collins of Bogalusa; two aunts, Carol Burris of Avondale and Bernice Walker of New Orleans; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Morgan and Marynell Carson of Bogalusa; and two brothers-in-laws, Nevel Carson Jr. of Bogalusa and Maurice Smith of Baltimore, Md.; his 10 grandchildren, Cameron Burdis, Chayson Burdis, Karson Duncan, Amaya Robinson, Nylan Alexander, Kamerin Alexander, JaRoderick Robinson, Acelynn Robinson, Mason Robinson and Roderick Robinson; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob” Hicks; his sister, Valeria “Pena” Smith; and two dear friends, Melvin Torrence and Henry “Shrimp” Mims.

The funeral service will be Friday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bogalusa.
