Mr. Curtis Spikes Jr., 73, died at home Friday, Jan. 31, 2020. He was the oldest male of eight siblings, of which one preceded him in death.

Mr. Curtis was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Bogalusa, to the late Curtis Spikes Sr. and Willie Mae Spikes. Curtis Jr. worked all his life for the formerly known Crown Zellerbach/ Gaylord paper mill until he retired in the early 2000s.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Robert Spikes Cummings. Survivors include sisters, Minnie Elliot of Englewood, Charleen Barnes of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Gwendolyn Wilson of Abita Springs; brothers, William Spikes of Los Angeles, Calif., Charles Spikes of Bogalusa, and Carl Spikes of Baton Rouge; sons, Germaine Johnson, Darin Fields, both of Bogalusa, and Jarrod (Krystal) Cook of Hammond; and daughters, Lisa Spikes, Frenchie Taylor of New Orleans, and LaTorya Fields of Bogalusa. He also was survived by 18 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home, located at 809 E. Third St. in Bogalusa.
