Barney Crosby, 79, left this life on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020. He was born on July 16, 1940, in Bogalusa. Barney loved his God, his wife of 57 years, his family, and his friends. He enjoyed the outdoors with his family, watching his children play sports, teaching Sunday School, and being a jokester.

Barney is survived by his two daughters, Melody Hale (Robert) and Rebekah “Becky” Crosby ( Beth), and one son, Bronwynn “Broney” Crosby (Dana); five grandchildren, Bethany Hale (fiancé, Dillan Hitt), Witt Markham, Noah Markham, Madison Short and Garrett Short; and two great-grandchildren, Ripley Eleanor Hitt and Scout Leola Hitt. He was the brother of Janice Sullivan, Gary Crosby (Ann), Delores Mudgett (John) and Gene Crosby (Susie). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Barney was preceded in death by his wife, Leola Lezette Williams Crosby; his daughter, Shan Crosby; his father and mother, Lonnie and Myrtis Crosby; and his father and mother-in-law, Alton and Edith Williams.

Barney provided for his family by serving 26 years in the U.S. Army National Guard and 26 years at the B.B. “Sixty” Rayburn Correctional Center near Angie.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. in Covington, on Friday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m., with visitation from 9 a.m. until the service time. Interment will follow the service at Bethel Fellowship Church Cemetery in Angie.
