Wendy Williams, executive director of Bogalusa Rebirth, recently announced that the non-profit organization completed the construction of its first home in Bogalusa.

Williams said that the organization was pleased to work in partnership with YouthBuild of Bogalusa, a sector of Northshore Technical Community College and Americorps. YouthBuild’s students had the opportunity to receive on-the-job skills training, as well as field days to evaluate and participate in construction activities while the affordable home was built.

She expressed special thanks to Danielle Keys, Pastor Michael O’Ree and Construction Manager De’on Alexander with YouthBuild.

The home is located at 231 Montgomery St.

Bogalusa Rebirth is building newly constructed three- and four-bedroom, single-family affordable homes, available to buyers who must meet HUD income and credit eligibility.

To apply, citizens can pick up an application at the office inside the Bogalusa Post Office at 305 Ave. B, Ste. 111. Interested applicants can also call 985-735-7283 and leave a voice message on the answering machine with a name and address, and Bogalusa Rebirth will mail an application.

Finally, those who have a printer can go online to www.bogalusarebirth.com and click on the “Affordable Housing” tab at the top to print an application and submit it using instructions.
