Veronica Gatlin was born May 30, 1966, to the late Florence Myers and Curtis L. Gatlin. She departed this life on Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa, at the age of 52.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her husband, Curtis L. Gatlin; one daughter she raised, Kristen Gatlin; special granddaughter, Quantrell K. Robertson, along with three other grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret (Timothy) Henderson; brother-in-law, Jeffery (Cynthis) Gatlin; four sisters, Tonja Spikes, Rena, Angela and Patty Carter; seven brothers, Michael Spikes, Clarence, Anthony, Perry, Tony, Steven and Willie Carter Jr.; three uncles, Vernell, Rev. Otis (Trinell) and Jessie Myres Jr.; two aunts, Jessie Mae (David) May and Annie (Rev. Robert) Peters; close friend, Julie Smith; close cousin, Leisha Peters-Dobon; her rock, Claudia Myres; and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Spikes; father, Willie Carter Sr.; grandparents, Jessie “Pop” Myres Sr. and Irene Peters Myres; and her brother, Johnny Ree Spikes Jr.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert W. Peters officiating.

Interment will be in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Angie.
