Mt. Hermon is 2-0, Varnado 2-1 in recent games

Mt. Hermon School went 2-0, while Varnado went 2-1 in games held recently.
On Tuesday, Mt. Hermon School’s Tevin Williams had a big night in the Yellow Jackets’ 81-65 victory over Pope John Paul II on the road.
Williams scored a game-high 28 points for the Yellow Jackets in the win.
Three players posted 12 points, including Michquel Spears, Keondre Bunch and Jeremy Bickham. Spears hit a pair of 3-pointers.
Tristan Brumfield posted 10 points that included two 3-pointers.
Travell Brumfield had five, while Jordan Harrison added two in the win.
On Thursday, Williams had another big night, helping the Yellow Jackets defeat Varnado, 67-61, at home.
Williams scored a game-high 31 points.
Tristan Brumfield posted 11 points that included a 3-pointer.
Ja’Quarrian Alexander recorded six points, while Travell Brumfield had five, Spears and Bunch put up four each, Oatis tallied three, Keey’Ontreh Williams had two and Jonathan McMahon added one for the Yellow Jackets. Ja’Quarrian Alexander made a 3-pointer.
Elizah Miller led Varnado with 14 points.
Michael Fland posted 12 that included a 3-pointer.
Zyquantay Bickham recorded 11 points.
Miguel Fland had nine points, while Caluntay Jackson tallied eight, Quanta Peters, Jaylen Peters and Dameon Roberts all had two and Zantonio Peters added one.
Varnado defeated Thrive Academy and Pearl River.
The Wildcats won 43-39 over Thrive Academy on Friday, Dec. 6, in a road game.
Kim McGowan Jr. led the team in scoring with 11 points. He dished out an assist and made four steals.
Michael Fland tallied eight points, three boards, two steals and he blocked a shot.
Miller posted seven points and three boards.
On Tuesday, Varnado was victorious over Pearl River, 43-39, as Fland had a big game.
Fland scored 21 points, grabbed four boards and made a steal.
Miguel Fland posted 18 points along with a rebound and a steal.
Trevin Haynes missed a double-double by just two boards and filled up the stat sheet. Haynes scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, three assists, four steals and he blocked four shots.
Miller posted a double-double. He tallied 10 points, 11 boards, an assist, three steals and he blocked two shots.
Mt. Hermon will back in action Tuesday when the Yellow Jackets host Amite, while Varnado’s next game will be Monday against South Jones on the road.
