Mt. Hermon wins 2-of-3 in Jewel Sumner Tournament

Mt. Hermon School’s Yellow Jackets posted a 2-1 record in the Sumner Basketball Classic 2019 that took place Wednesday through Saturday.
Mt. Hermon captured its opener, 96-92, over Northeast on Thursday, as Tevin Williams had a big game.
Williams scored 33 points for the Yellow Jackets. Williams was one of five Mt. Hermon players in double figures.
Travell Brumfield posted 17 points and made two 3-pointers.
Tristan Brumfield recorded 12 points and he made a 3-pointer.
Michquel Spears and Keondre Bunch posted 11 each. Spears hit a 3-pointer, while Bunch made one.
Jeremy Bickham had five points, while Rashad Oatis put up four and Jordan Harrison added three in the victory. Harrison was good on a 3-pointer.
Mt. Hermon was defeated by Jewel Sumner, 81-54, the next day.
Williams led the Yellow Jackets with 12 points.
Spears posted nine, while Harrison posted seven, Tristan Brumfield tallied six, Bunch and Oatis put up five each, Keey’Ontreh Williams had four, Travell Brumfield logged three, Ja’Quarrian Alexander had two and Bickham added one. Spears made three 3-pointers, while Harrison had one.
On Saturday, Mt. Hermon defeated Independence, 72-62.
Tevin Williams was the Yellow Jackets’ leading scorer with 23 points.
Tristan Brumfield recorded 13 and he made a 3-pointer.
Alexander posted 10 and he hit a 3-pointer.
Travell Brumfield had nine, while Spears recorded six, Bunch posted five, Keey’Ontreh Williams tallied four, Oatis added two. Spears made two 3-pointers, while Brumfield and Bunch tallied one each.
The two met again on Monday at Independence in non-tournament play and the Yellow Jackets lost by a point, 49-48.
Travell Brumfield led the Yellow Jackets with 17 points that included a trio of 3-pointers.
Bunch posted 10 points and he made a 3-pointer.
Tevin Williams recorded nine points, while Spears posted seven and Tristan Brumfield added three and Bickham had two. Spears hit a 3-pointer.
On Thursday, Mt. Hermon lost to Covington, 62-39, at home.
Tevin Williams posted 12 points to top Mt. Hermon.
Bunch had nine and Spears put up seven.
Mt. Hermon’s next game will be Thursday, when it hosts Varnado.
