Trio of parish teams were in Mt. Hermon girls tournament

Three local girls basketball teams took to the court for the Mt. Hermon Tournament that was held Nov. 21 and Nov. 23.
Mt. Hermon and Pine went 1-1 in the tournament.
Mt. Hermon’s first game was a 61-33 loss to Jewel Sumner.
Macey Applegate and Bailey Fortenberry scored 10 points each to top Mt. Hermon. Fortenberry made a pair of 3-pointers.
Sydnei Tullos had eight points, while Sikoya Jackson posted three and A’muriel Williams recorded two. Tullos made two 3-pointers, while Jackson had one.
Two days later, Mt. Hermon topped Franklinton, 37-34.
Three players hit double figures for Mt. Hermon.
Tullos led the way with 15 points, which included three 3-pointers.
Jackson and Fortenberry tallied 10 each. Both players made a pair of 3-pointers.
Blayke Brinker added two points in the win.
Addison Carter posted 13 points to lead Franklinton. Carter made a 3-pointer.
Zykeria Dykes had 10 points.
Eliziah Riley posted seven points, while Bailey Brooks tallied three and Abby Smith added one. Riley hit a 3-pointer.
Pine began the tournament with a 38-30 victory over Franklinton.
Miriam Tate was Franklinton’s leading scorer with 14 points. Tate hit a 3-pointer.
Carter posted 12 points that included three 3-pointers.
Dykes and Aniyah Cooper had two each.
Pine’s next game was a 47-45 loss to Jewel Sumner.
Franklinton had the two close losses in the tournament.
