Jerry Dean Cotton was born on Oct. 17, 1934, from the parentage of Velma Dillon and Burley Dillon. She departed this life on Nov. 29, 2019.

At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Greater Hayes Creek Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. L.W. Bolton Sr. and later the Rev. Jerome Warren, where she remained faithful until her health began to fail.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Katrina (Roy Jr.) Dyson of LaPlace; two sons, Lenzy Ray (Kerry) Cotton of Houston, Texas, and Gardner Cotton of Franklinton; six grandchildren, Angel (Marcus) Willams of Las Vegas, Nev., Sebrina (Faheem) Curtis-Khadir of Dayton, Ohio, Roy Dyson III of LaPlace, Jadelyn Dyson, Lakeisha Cotton, and Karen (T.D.) Owens, all of Houston; five great-grandchildren; Hillion (Willie) Chambers of Houston, who was like a sister; three brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Corrine) Cotton Sr. and Willie Cotton, both of Franklinton, and Wayne (Leshun) Cotton of Mississippi; one sister-in-law, Vera Green of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Len Cotton; one son, James Edward Cotton; her parents, Velma and Burley Dillon; three brothers-in-law; and five sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., followed by a family hour from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at Greater Hayes Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerome Warren, pastor, officiating.
