Bucs move to 4-0

Several Bowling Green players had big games in a 34-6 victory over Columbia Academy in the District 2A4 opener on the road Friday.
“It’s always tough to go on the road and play in district,” Bowling Green School coach Riley Boudreaux said. “To have a victory like that was really good for the boys. They’ve been working hard all last week and all season and they deserve it.”
Quarterback Rashaan Duke threw for 294 yards and four touchdowns on 13-of-17 passing. He also ran for 27 yards.
Steven Cooper led the receivers with seven catches for 179 yards and he tied Cade Knight for the team lead with two touchdowns.
Knight was just shy of 100 yards receiving. He caught five passes for 97 yards.
Jekorvian Long caught a pass for 18 yards and was strong in the running game. Long ran for 123 yards on nine carries. He also had a tackle, defensively.
He was one of two Buccaneers to hit triple figures in rushing, as part of a 317-yard rushing day for Bowling Green.
Wayne Ray had 18 runs for 159 yards and a touchdown.
Narada McGill had a run for 8 yards.
Kengie Gordon led the team in tackles, with 10.
Brayden Edwards and Cameron Brock recorded nine tackles each. Edwards broke up a pass and intercepted a pass. Brock had a pass defensed.
Hunter Wilkinson had seven stops.
Denzel Evans posted six tackles and a pass breakup.
Jacob Dobraska and Jackson Dobraska posted four tackles each.
Jace Schexnider and Emmanuel Powell tallied three stops each. Schexnider intercepted a pass.
Jacob Devall and Jonathon Saverese had a pair of tackles each.
Matthew Downs made one tackle for the Buccaneers.
Bowling Green will be back in action on Friday with a home game against Clinton Christian Academy. The Buccaneers improved to 4-0 this year.
