Ruby Knight

Mrs. Ruby James Knight, a lifelong resident of Sheridan, passed away peacefully at her home on Aug. 18, 2019. She was born in Stonega, Va., on Sept. 24, 1933. She married her husband Lavon Knight on Jan. 23, 1954, and had a loving marriage for 65 years.

She leaves behind her husband, Lavon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Caron Knight and James and Beth Knight; grandchildren, Blake Knight, Krissy Knight (Warren) Haga, Kelly Knight (Anthony) Stubbs, Todd (Crystal) Knight, and Celeste Knight; and six great-grandchildren, Ethan Knight, David Haga, Madelyn Stubbs, Andrew Haga, Daniel Haga, and William Stubbs.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Bedford and Martha Failen James.

She enjoyed traveling back to the mountains of her birth, and visiting with family and friends. However, nothing pleased her more than when her family met together for special occasions. Mrs. Ruby was also a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.

Visitation was Monday, Aug. 19, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., and reopened Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m., with interment following at Knight Cemetery in Sheridan. Elder Doyle Ball and Elder Tommy Hudnall officiated.
