Bobby Schneider Sr.

Coach Bobby Lee Schneider Sr., a native of Biloxi, Miss., and a longtime resident of Bogalusa, died at his residence in Slidell on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the age of 86, surrounded by his family.

He was a coach, mentor, and a teacher to many people who grew up in Bogalusa. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army Reserve.

He is survived by his children, Bobby Schneider Jr., Cynthia Schneider, Keith Schneider, Rachel Miley, Jerry Schneider and Michael Schneider; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by other relatives, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Velma Schneider; his parents, Nelson and Pauline Schneider; one brother, Morris Jerry Schneider; three sons, Christopher David Schneider, Mark Douglas Schneider and Raymond Morris Schneider; and five grandchildren.

A visitation honoring Coach Schneider’s life was at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Monday, May 20, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continued at Annunciation Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 21, at 9 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. The Rev. Father Daniel Brouillette officiated. Interment followed at Ponemah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Alzheimer’s Research or the Bogalusa High School football program.
