Thomas Alton Peters, 66, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at his residence.

Alton was a resident of Poplarville, Miss.

He was born Nov. 7, 1952, in Bogalusa to Thomas Leighton Peters and Murriel Ilene Harris Peters.

He enjoyed storytelling and, above all, spending time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father; and his grandparents, Lester and Mary Alice Peters; Clarence and Geneva Harris.

He is survived by his four daughters, Shannon (Chris) Bond, Allison (John) Penton, Kelly (Matt) Keenan, and Carrin (Brian) Varnado; his mother, Murriel Peters; two sisters, Sharon (Bill) Davidson and Barbara (the late Johnny) Williams; and a host of grandchildren, family and friends. Alton’s first great-grandchild is expected in early summer.

Visitation was Thursday, May 2, at the Peters Residence, 220 Smith and Peters Road in Poplarville, from 1 p.m. until the time the service was held at 2 p.m.

White Funeral Home in Poplarville was in charge of arrangements.
